As someone who could not give less of a shit about the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ music, I didn’t really have expectations when I heard that the bassist of Flea was making a jazz record. However, I am so glad that I ended up giving this a chance, because it is a wonderful effort. On it, Flea enlists musicians from the L.A. jazz scene to help elevate the album’s sound, and there are even vocal features from Thom Yorke and Nick Cave (who I love very much).
