Carve by Kathryn Mohr
#9
a really interesting, spellbinding art rock release that harkens to PJ Harvey’s abrasive “Uh Huh Her.” The field recordings and sound collages that Kathryn compiles are as ghostly as the album cover, and the more conventionally-structured songs like “Cells” and “Angle of Repose” have a sludgy, muscular guitar tone that creates a sticky, claustrophobic tension with the vocals.
